📢 New Publication Alert: Shaping Better Support for Carers of People with Aphasia

Care partners and family members of people with aphasia face unique challenges after stroke. They are often learning how to support someone with a communication disability while also managing changes to their own roles, relationships, wellbeing, and daily routines.

In our newly published research paper, we explored whether the existing Screening Tool for Carers of Young People with Stroke adequately captured the needs of carers supporting someone with aphasia. Through consultation with carers, we identified important gaps and adapted the tool to better reflect their experiences and support needs.

This work laid the foundation for the Carer Needs Checklist, which has since been transformed into a digital tool that helps carers identify their priorities and access tailored resources based on their individual needs.

A small step toward making support more accessible, personalised, and timely for families living with aphasia after stroke.
