Watch our latest seminar on YouTube now – “Beyond language barriers: From challenges to collaboration in interpreter‑supported cross-linguistic aphasia therapy”

Presentation by: Dr Chelsea Larkman

Increasing international migration is resulting in speech pathologists providing care to people with aphasia with whom they do not share a language. This presentation will explore the challenges of cross-linguistic aphasia therapy, potential solutions, and a co-designed tool to support collaboration between speech pathologists and interpreters.

Chelsea is a speech pathologist who recently completed her PhD investigating cultural and linguistic adaptation of aphasia rehabilitation. She has worked in public hospitals since 2007 with an interest in post-stroke aphasia. She is currently a post-doctoral research associate at The University of Sydney and affiliated with the Aphasia CRE.
