Grounded in the perspectives of people with aphasia, this session will introduce research exploring:
Information search (e.g. Google)
Data visualization (e.g. graphs)
Voice technology (e.g. Alexa)

in everyday contexts. These lessons about common barriers and user-led workarounds help promote better technology access in the short and long-term.

Dr Abi Roper is a Speech and Language Therapist and Research Fellow at City St George’s, University of London. Her research centres on insights gained at the overlap of stakeholder perspectives – drawing on collaborations with members of the aphasia community, human-computer interaction research, speech and language research and clinical practice.

We recommend subtitles for the first 7 minutes with sound quality improving after that.
