From Search to Speech: Understanding the Experience and Accessibility of Everyday Technologies for People with Aphasia.
Presentation by: Dr Abi Roper, University of London.
Grounded in the perspectives of people with aphasia, this session will introduce research exploring:
- Information search (e.g. Google)
- Data visualization (e.g. graphs)
- Voice technology (e.g. Alexa)
in everyday contexts. These lessons about common barriers and user-led workarounds help promote better technology access in the short and long-term.
Dr Abi Roper is a Speech and Language Therapist and Research Fellow at City St George’s, University of London. Her research centres on insights gained at the overlap of stakeholder perspectives – drawing on collaborations with members of the aphasia community, human-computer interaction research, speech and language research and clinical practice.
