Dr John Pierce and Professor Miranda Rose are excited to be presenting a half-day workshop organised by Speech Pathologists in Adult Rehabilitation on Multi-modality Aphasia Therapy (M-MAT) theory, evidence, and practical implementation strategies.

Outline: This half-day professional development event is designed to equip clinicians with the theory and hands-on skills to deliver Multi-Modality Aphasia Therapy (M-MAT), an evidence-based group treatment that improves verbal language and communication in people with aphasia.
Led by Professor Miranda Rose and Dr John Pierce, this session will explore:
- The development history and mechanisms underpinning M-MAT
- The evidence base from clinical trials supporting M-MAT
- How to structure and deliver M-MAT sessions, including adaptations for different clinical settings
- Practical resources to support implementation
Participants will also receive step-by-step training in the M-MAT protocol and engage in hands-on practice of:
- Therapy activities and cueing hierarchies
- Linguistic level selection and progression
- Group formation and session planning
- Scoring and outcome tracking.
