Aphasia CRE – What’s happening in 2025?

Dear Aphasia CRE Community of Practice Members,

As we wind down to the end of the year, I wanted to wish you a happy and safe festive season.

It has been a very productive year in the Aphasia CRE culminating in our celebration events in November that marked 6 years of operations. Given our main NHMRC funding for the CRE has ended I wanted to let you know that we will still be operational in 2025. We will continue to:

  • Operate our Aphasia CRE office from La Trobe University, School of Allied Health, Human Services and Sport, ably led by our Centre Manager Kelly Maskell. Email: aphasiacre@latrobe.edu.au  Ph: (03) 9479 5559
  • Host our monthly Aphasia CRE research webinars co-led by Dr John Pierce and Dr Rebecca Sullivan in 2025. The seminars can be viewed live or on demand through our YouTube Channel: www.youtube.com/@aphasiacre
  • Support our higher degree students and postdoctoral fellows through monthly capacity building meetings and peer support processes led by Associate Professor Annie Hill
  • Facilitate regular collaboration meetings for aphasia researchers across Australia to reduce research duplication and support scaled up projects, led by Professor Miranda Rose
  • Support our newest research program, Program 5 Aphasia Inclusion Hub, led by Associate Professor Robyn O’Halloran, to achieve their goals of inclusive healthcare and research for people with aphasia.

We are excited to continue our funded research work in 2025 and look forward to sharing the outcomes of that work with you in regular updated across the year.

For now, we wish you good health and happiness.

Professor Miranda Rose
Director, Aphasia CRE
