Participants needed: Co-designing a psychoeducation package to enhance psychosocial wellbeing for young adults living with stroke
We are excited to be underway with a new study aiming to co-design an accessible, inclusive package of clinician-delivered and other resources with information about the ‘invisible’ challenges experienced by young adult survivors of stroke, including mental health, fatigue and cognitive challenges. The aim of the psychoeducation package will be to address and prevent psychological and cognitive challenges in young stroke survivors. The first step is to conduct focus groups to understand the perspectives of expert clinicians, young stroke survivors and their support people on the essential components of this psychoeducation package.
We are seeking:
- Clinicians with at least 5 years of experience working with young stroke survivors (aged between 18-45) with cognitive/psychosocial difficulties. You may have a background in psychology, social work, allied health, neurology, rehabilitation or a related field. You do not need to have worked solely with young survivors of stroke during the 5 years of experience, but this cohort would need to have been part of your regular case load.
We are also seeking:
- Young stroke survivors who had their stroke at age 18-45 years old – including people with aphasia
- Support people of young stroke survivors (e.g. family member, friend)
Participating in the study involves two 90-minute focus groups over Zoom to contribute your perspectives on the content and delivery of the psychoeducation package. The first group will involve discussing initial ideas about what to include in the psychoeducation package and how it should be delivered. Following the first focus-group, we will develop prototypes for the intervention, which will be discussed at a second focus-group discussion, around 3 months after the first meeting. Initial focus groups will take place in June – July this year. Participants will be paid $50 per hour for their contributions.
The decision to participate is voluntary and will not impact ongoing or future care, research involvement or professional relationships with the research team. I have attached flyers with some more information.
