The presentation will provide general information regarding stroke and aphasia and discuss the recovery and rehabilitation of people with aphasia focusing on the music-based interventions aimed at promoting cognitive, verbal and neural rehabilitation in stroke and aphasia.
Dr. Aleksi Sihvonen is a Resident in Neurology at the Helsinki University Hospital and a Senior Researcher working at the University of Helsinki, Finland. His research focuses on the neural underpinnings of language and music and their deficits (aphasia/amusia), and on the rehabilitative use of music for neurological patients.
