The organising committee is pleased to announce that ASAMelb2025 will be hosted by the Centre of Research Excellence in Aphasia Recovery and Rehabilitation (Aphasia CRE) at La Trobe University, Melbourne on 27 and 28 November 2025.
The conference theme is ‘Collaborating for success’ in the spirit of the interdisciplinary nature of aphasia rehabilitation research and care, and the importance of lived experience expertise.
Abstract Submission – CLOSING at Midnight June 30th (AEST)
We invite clinicians and researchers to present research or clinical innovation projects to an audience of researchers and clinicians from various disciplines and work settings (e.g., speech pathology, psychology, hospitals, community, universities). Abstracts are invited for the Aphasiology Symposium of Australasia (ASAMelb2025) on any area any area related to aphasia rehabilitation and recovery. Please complete this form to register an abstract submission.
Types of abstracts:
The program committee invite authors to choose from a variety of abstract formats including:
1. Oral presentation (15 min talk + 5 min question time)
2. Lightning talk (7mins)
3. Poster presentation at dedicated poster session with discussion (NB: presenters must stand beside their poster).

Within your abstract, feel free to outline the novelty of the work as well as any clinical implications for the field. All abstracts will be reviewed anonymously, and authors will be notified by mid August 2025.
When submitting your abstract, please select your preferred format of presentation (oral presentation, lightning talk or poster presentation). Please bear in mind that in the interests of developing a diverse and engaging program, you may be offered a presentation format that does not match your preference.
The abstract should include sufficient but concise information. It should not contain figures or tables.
The abstract limit is 400 words (excluding references) and the template includes the following sections:
INTRODUCTION – Brief background and purpose/aims of the study, and a brief literature review.
METHODS – Description of data collection and analyses performed.
RESULTS – Key findings.
DISCUSSION – Implications, clinical relevance, take home messages, and conclusions.
REFERENCES – Up to 4 references may be included.
SUMMARY
– Single line spacing with one blank line before each new paragraph or subheading (to help us with formatting).
– Maximum 400 words (excluding the references)
– No figures or tables
– Do not include university degrees, titles, street address, or postcodes.
PRESENTATION OPTIONS – Enter your preferences for your preferred presentation styles, we recommend choosing at least two options.
