Congratulations to Nelson Javier Hernandez on receiving the Saffran Student Scholar Award 2024.

This year’s conference focuses on the roles of caregivers and companions in the rehabilitation of communication disorders. Nelson’s thesis aims to improve the lives of caregivers in post-stroke aphasia throughout the continuum of care, as part of the Communication Connect online platform.

Communication Connect is a project funded by the Australian National Health and Medical Research Council (NHMRC) Ideas grant and is led by Professor Miranda Rose from La Trobe University. The project is developing a comprehensive, multicomponent, technology-enabled program of care providing rehabilitation, support, and self-management for people with long term communication disability and their family.

This award will support travel and conference expenses for Nelson’s travel to the conference in September.

Congratulations Nelson!
