Stroke clinicians – you’re invited to participate in the online Mood Assessment Post Stroke Training Program.

This entirely online study is being conducted in partnership with the Stroke Foundation. The purpose of this research is to evaluate our online Mood Assessment Post Stroke Training program. We want to know if it improves your confidence, knowledge, and skills in screening for mood problems in stroke survivors, including those with cognitive or communication deficits.

To be eligible to participate in this study you must have a minimum of provisional registration as a health professional OR you must have graduated from your relevant degree.

If you decide to participate, you will first:

  1. Complete a demographics questionnaire, Mood Screening Self-Efficacy Questionnaire and a General Self-efficacy Questionnaires after enrolling in the study.
  2. Complete the Mood screening self-efficacy questionnaire again and a pre-training mood screening knowledge quiz before you can start the training.

After completing these you will be randomly allocated into two groups. The first group will have access to the online mood screening training immediately. The second group will be delayed one week before they can access the training.  You will complete our mood screening training modules – where we teach you how to perform formal mood screening. To evaluate the training you will then complete:

  1. A consolidation exercise – to make sure you remember what you have learnt.
  2. A post-training quiz – to measure your knowledge after the training.
  3. The mood screening self-efficacy questionnaire again.
  4. You will also have to provide some survey feedback on the training

Following this you will receive a certificate of completion that may be used to support your Continued Professional Development record. If you indicate that you have undertaken the training to implement routine mood screening you may be contacted by email one month following the training to see if you have successfully implemented the training in your clinical practice. Overall, the training should take a maximum of one and a half hours to complete. The one month follow up should take no more than five minutes to reply to the email.
