‘Innovation in trial designs: moving beyond two-arm RCTs to evaluate post-stroke aphasia interventions’

Complex interventions, such as those for post-stroke aphasia, have commonly been tested using two-arm parallel group trials. Recent advances in trial design methodology provide opportunities for smarter ways of doing research, the potential to answer more complex questions, allow us to deliver results more efficiently, reduce study timelines and maximise the knowledge gained. Amanda will provide an overview of innovations in efficient trial designs and describe some of the benefits and challenges to applying them to evaluations of aphasia interventions.
