If you’re looking for some aphasia related viewing over the next few weeks, please check out our Aphasia CRE YouTube channel where we are releasing many of the Aphasia CRE seminar recordings. These are great to update yourself with the latest in worldwide research and developments in aphasia.
We will be loading more videos in the new year.

End of year message from the Director if the Aphasia CRE
2022 has been a year of challenge for many as our community has adjusted to Australia as a nation “living with COVID”.
Despite the stresses of uncertainty, the need for flexibility as plans were made and inevitably altered, changes of national and state governments, rising interest rates, strange weather patterns, and a series of floods that continue as I write, our aphasia research community has flourished. What does this say about us? Why do we flourish in such adversity?
I believe it is because the members of our community hold beliefs that are central to building strong community and supporting individual and collective wellbeing: care for others; respect for difference; honesty; openness to change; generosity of spirit; that the wellbeing of the group is as important as the wellbeing of any individual. These shared beliefs underpin resilience and fuel our sustained efforts.
I am so extremely proud of the achievements of our members this year (we will document these in an annual report available early in 2023) and honoured to direct this large and productive collaboration.
For now, I wish you a happy festive season. I do hope you have some time to reflect on the year, to catch up with family and friends, and to rest a little or a lot! I look forward to working with you all in 2023, and to improving the quality of life for people living with aphasia, their families, and communities.
