We are very pleased to announce that Rebecca El-Helou, a CRE Aphasia PhD in Psychology candidate at UTS has been successful in being awarded $14,700 to undertake an academic visit to City University, London, UK.
The award will allow Rebecca to spend around 2 months as a visitor at The Centre for Language and Communication Science Research at the City University, hosted by Professor Katerina Hilari. Katerina, a speech pathologist, is part of leading research group focussing on improving rehabilitation outcomes for those with communication difficulties such as aphasia and is currently a collaborator on Rebecca’s Reducing Emotional Distress in Stroke (REDS) project.
The primary goal of Rebecca’s visit is develop skills and knowledge in the operation of Virtual Reality for psychological treatment of people with aphasia. She will visit over October / November this year.
I understand there around 200 HDRs in the Faculty of Health at UTS in 2022, and only one award available so this is a highly impressive achievement!
